Set your saddle height in five minutes

The heel-on-pedal test, and why knee pain often starts here.

Sit on the saddle and put your heel on the pedal at its lowest point. Your leg should be straight. When you pedal with the ball of your foot, your knee will have a slight bend — that is the height you want.

Pain at the front of the knee usually means the saddle is too low; pain behind the knee usually means it is too high.

General guidance, not medical advice. Talk to a doctor if you have pain, an injury or a health condition.
